1. Store your camera in a case someplace dry.
2. Never use anything to clean your camera except for camera gear made for that purpose.
3. If you camera gets wet, then dry it and make sure no water is left to prevent rust
4. Use camera swabs. When your taking the lens off then tilt the camera down and unscrew the lens.
Try to clean it in a dry low dust place.
5. Take them out and store them in a dry place. If you are using a battery for that camera only, then charge it only when it is completely dead. Random charges will damage the battery and wreck it.
